D.E.L.T.A. Impact Program
Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancements and Leadership Through Alliances Impact
After having been selected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a DELTA program recipient for a third time, the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence has, for a third time, selected Sunrise of Pasco County's violence prevention efforts as one of two programs statewide to be funded by the DELTA Impact Program.
In short, the DELTA Impact program seeks build a community that is not conducive to interpersonal violence. At length, with the initiation of DELTA Impact, the Sunrise Prevention Team has begun implementation of the Creating Protective Environments strategy with particular emphasis on the associated improving school climate and safety approach. Together, with our local educators, we are building a stronger community alliance against violence.
The Primary Prevention Approach with Youth
Prevention is about preventing intimate partner violence (IPV) before it begins. When we look at our communities, we see our intervention services empowering people who have already experienced violence. And this is a good thing.
However, if we want fewer people requiring intervention services, we need to start prevention work earlier. This means working with young people.
We seek to prevent youth from becoming victims or perpetrators of domestic violence by giving them the skills and knowledge to build healthy relationships. At the same time, our programs help communities create the positive changes to discourage violence and support everyone’s efforts to create healthy relationships.
Our work with young people of all ages is based on these fundamental goals.
