Our Services
Comprehensive Array of Programming Services are available to any victim of domestic
or sexual violence free of charge and include a full array of programming to help victims
at every point in their crisis.
EMERGENCY SHELTER
Sunrise operates a confidential shelter in East Pasco County for victims who are not
safe in their own homes. The shelter provides a warm atmosphere where survivors are
provided with counseling, support groups and assistance in rebuilding their lives and
the lives of their children free of violence. Classes in the areas of women's health,
nutrition, financial management and parenting are provided to residents. In addition,
tutors provided through the school board help children keep from lagging behind
academically during the period of crisis. The shelter provides food, clothing and
personal necessities and collaborative agency partners work with Sunrise staff to
ensure that the needs of the residents are fully met. The shelter has a capacity for 24
women and children for a period of up to six weeks. The shelter is full staffed with a
shelter counselor, case manager, children's counselor and three shelter managers.
The shelter counselor is available Monday through Friday from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M.
COUNSELING
Sunrise provides counseling in both the individual and group format for both shelter
residents and outreach clients. Outreach clients meet in various locations throughout
eastern pasco County. One group a week focuses on psycho-educational classes for
the children and their mothers.
HOTLINE & INFORMATION/REFERRAL SERVICES
The hotline provides the vital link for those in immediate danger and crisis. Trained
hotline staff provide crisis intervention, information and referrals, safety planning, and
support on a 24 hour a day, seven days per week basis.
SEXUAL ASSAULT SERVICES
Sunrise provides the only free Sexual Assault Counseling Services in Pasco County.
Counselors are available for individual and group counseling for victims of rape, incest
or molestation irrespective of age or if the crime has been reported to law enforcement.
Counseling is also available to the victim's loved ones.
LEGAL ADVOCACY
Two full-time legal advocates are available to assist victims with any issues related to
law enforcement and the judiciary including orders of protection, court support and
advocacy, and attorney referrals. Sunrise has a close working relationship with Bay Area
Legal Services Program which is available to clients who cannot afford a private
attorney. In addition, all police reports are reviewed daily and victims are contacted to
offer services. The Clerk of the Circuit Court provides information on protective
injunctions and a self-help center at www.pascoclerk.com.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
Sunrise staff provide critical information about domestic violence and sexual assault to
hundreds of individuals each year through workshops and community presentations.
Specialized training is available for a variety of professional groups including Law
Enforcement, Social Services and Medical Personnel. Finally, a full-time staff member
provides education on sexual assault in the Pasco County School system and to any
other group interested in the prevention of sexual assault.
THRIFT STORE
Sunrise operates the "Solutions" Thrift Store located at 35535 S.R. 52, Dade City (see
below for store hours). Solutions is stocked completely by donations from the
community and provides additional revenue for victim programs. Clients may shop with
vouchers to meet their needs for clothing and household items. Solutions will pick up
