What is CQI?
Sunrise of Pasco County, Inc. has been formally engaged in the Continuous Quality
Improvement (CQI) process since July of 2003.  For the benefit of new staff members
of this agency as well as the friends, community partners and participants (both past
& present) explanation of the CQI process and how it is being used to continuously
improve client services is provided below. We are committed by internal policy to share
our CQI findings with the Pasco County community on an annual basis.

The CQI committee is made up of several selected staff members and stakeholders
outside the agency. The CQI committee meets monthly and it is meant to be a safe place
to honestly and genuinely tackle the improvement needs of our agency. The goal of the
CQI process is to establish an ongoing mechanism to identify areas of service that need
improvement. As the needs of the agency are identified, or the needs of the community
change, the CQI process is in place to methodically address the resolution of the
identified areas of improvement.

As indicated in the following table, CQI concerns itself with a myriad of improvement
issues. Highlights include client satisfaction indicators, employee turnover, stakeholder
participation, communication, community knowledge and facilities safety.  This table
provides an itemized list of CQI concerns addressed in the CQI meetings. We have also
listed the solutions that have been implemented to address the identified areas
of improvement.

SUNRISE CQI NEEDS YOU! Your voice is essential to the CQI process. If you are a staff
member, community partner, citizen, teacher, mother, father or any one else who wants
to make an impact on an essential social issue impacting us all, please join the CQI
committee by calling Penny Morrill at Sunrise, 352-521-3358

Next meeting January 27, 2012 @ 9:00 AM

Sunrise has launched a new youth website called "Know
Your Peace" or www.knowyourpeace.org.  The website
was finalized with input from the YCAT (Youth Community
Action Team).

The new site focuses on the four principles that the YCAT
centers on:
 peace, acceptance, respect, and
knowledge.  The pages cover healthy and unhealthy
relationships, being an active bystander, bullying, cyber
bullying, sexual harassment, stats, gender roles and
acceptance, and how to get active to make a change.  The
web pages feature tips and strategies for having healthy
relationships; understanding gender roles; being a
bystander; ‘what to do if…’ forum for issues such as
sexual harassment and assault; interactive features
(quizzes); resources for more information; things to do to
help; social media links; calendars and information for
YCAT club members, a blog, and galleries for their media
projects.

The Public Relations Committee at Sunrise has been working to launch a new message
campaign, “If Not Us, Who?  If Not Now, When?”  The campaign’s focus is to reach
bystanders and encourage them to get involved in the mission to end domestic violence
in our community. The group will be targeting friends, family members, and co-workers
of victims and will provide them with information on how they can help. The committee
members developed the bystander campaign after reviewing alarming statistics that
were collected from the East Pasco County Fatality Review Team. For example, of the 17
domestic violence homicides the Team has reviewed since 2005, in over 65% of the
cases, friends, family members, or co-workers knew that the victim was being abused.
In order to reach bystanders, the group will be distributing a series of posters they
created throughout the community. If you would like to support this effort by putting up a
poster in your business or organization, please contact the Sunrise administration office
at (352) 521-3358 or via e-mail at cbates@sunrisepasco.org.

Community Friends Combine Talents
to Support Sunrise!
My name is Lil Hendrix.  I am a program assistant here at Sunrise.  Through the
years, I have seen Sunrise blessed by our friends in the community who see the
work that we do and help support our mission to end domestic and sexual violence
by providing prevention and intervention services.  Support comes in many forms -
through donations of articles for our thrift store or donation of money and/or food to
our programs.  Sometimes it is through volunteers giving their hands-on time and
labor.  When community friends come together to do what they love and it helps
Sunrise, it just has to be good.
Felix Borges, Flaco’s Café of Zephyrhills, Laci Stinnette, an independent
consultant for Thirty-One Gifts and Vanessa Sanchez, a consultant for Scentsy
Wickless Products decided they wanted to do something to help Sunrise.   All
three have things in common:  They belong to the same family and they love the
products they sell.  Felix, Laci and Vanessa put their heads together and came up
with the following (

There will be good food and wonderful items to purchase for that Special Valentine,
so please come join us .  May I remind the ladies and gentlemen who are reading
this,  “Be your own Special Valentine! ”

A big thank you to  Felix, Laci, Vanessa, and Flaco’s Café staff!
